Track and field
1979: Class A (now Division III) state track champion for the 440- and 220-yard dashes, as well as a member of the winning mile relay.
1978: Class A state champ as a member of the mile relay. Second place in the 220-yard dash
Led the Clippers to Class A state team titles in 1978 and ’79.

Football
1978: Class A Northeast District Running Back of the Year. Second team All-Ohio.
Rushed for 1,253 yards and 17 touchdowns in helping the Clippers make to the Class A title game where they lost to Newark Catholic, 21-0

Coaching highlights
1987-2001, 2011-present: Track assistant for Clearview High School
Coached 2001 state track champions Danny Davis (110 hurdles, 100 meters) and Jarrod Murphy (200 meters, plus state runner-up for 100 meters) as the Clippers went on to win the Division III state championship. Murphy was also the 2000 Division III 100-meter state champ and 200-meter state runner-up
Coached Francene (Woods) Johnson to five state titles (100 meters, 1985, 200 meters, 1986; 400 meters, 1987; 4×200 and 4×100 in 1987)
