Playing career
1929-32: Bowling Green State University
* He was a member of the Falcon football team from 1929-31 (compiling a 13-3-7 record over that span), while also captaining the baseball and basketball teams in 1931-32

Coaching career
1933-42: Clearview High School for varsity football
* Launched the Clippers football program as their first-ever football coach and compiled a 32-9-4 record.
1933-43: Clearview High School for varsity boys basketball
* His basketball teams for the Clippers had a combined record of 161-35.
1937-43: Clearview High School for varsity track and field
* His track program won the 1943 Clearview Class B district and captured seven county championships.
* Individually, Tarver “Cy” Perkins won the 1940 Class B state title for the mile. Frank Wright won the 1942 Class B state long jump after taking second for the same event in ’41.
1943, 1946-50: Upper Arlington High school for varsity football
1951-54: The Ohio State University – backfield coach under Woody Hayes as an assistant along with future Michigan coach Bo Schembechler. Schembechler was also an assistant under Perry at BGSU for one year in 1955.
