1932: Class B state champion in the 220-yard dash (22.0), 120-yard high hurdles and (16.5) 220-yard low hurdles (26.4). State runner-up in long jump. Led Indians to Class B state team championship over Millersburg, 31-18.5
1931: Class B state runner-up for 100 yards and also placed second as member of the 880-yard relay along with Charles Parkhurst, Sam Barnes and Ray
Gordon. He also finished third at state in the 120-yard high hurdles. Helped his team to a state runner-up team finish behind Dayton Oakwood, 51-25.
