Son of Ray Armstrong, Sr., 2010 inductee of the Lorain County Track and Cross Country Hall of Fame and 4-time Division II state champion and 7-time All-Ohio for Elyria West
2003: Third place at Division I state meet for 800 meters in a school-record time of 1:52.73. also finished eighth as a member of the 4×800 with Dave Thomas, Eric Hammond and Nick Brown with a time of 7:53.95.
2003: Finished 13th at Adidas Outdoor Nationals with a time of 1:52.82
2003: Finished second in the 800 meters at the Amherst regional (1:55.38). He teamed with Thomas, Hammond and Brown for a third in the 4×800 (7:52.24) and later teamed with Thomas, Matt Whitely and Ken Weber for a fourth in the 4×400 (3:25.95). Their efforts keyed the Elyria boys second place finish to Strongsville, 52-44. Earlier Armstrong won 800 at the Amherst district in a meet-record 1:54.82. He was also a member of the winning 4×800 (8:06.15) and 4×400 (3:24.14) relays. The Elyria boys finished second to Strongsville, 101-95.
2002: Earned All-American honors as a member of the 4×800 as he teamed with Josh Young, Brown and Michael Inge for fifth place at the Adidas Outdoor Nationals with a time of 7:43.37
2002: Anchored Division I state champion 4×800 relay that included Young, Brown and Inge which clocked a state-record time of 7:42.71. Later he finished runner-up in the Division I 800-meter state final in a time of 1:54.63. He also finished fourth at state as a member of the 4×400 with Young, Weber and Inge in a time of 3:18.06.
2002: Teamed with Young, Brown and Inge to win the 4×800 at the Amherst regional (7:53.37). He also combined with Young, Weber and Inge to win the 4×400 (3:21.13) and was second in the 800 (1:55.78) to Inge as Elyria edged Brunswick for the title, 45-44. Earlier he was a member of the winning 4×800 (7:59.85) and 4×400 (3:22.49) and took second in the 800 (1:56.07) to Inge as Elyria finished second at the Amherst district to Strongsville, 96-92.
2002: Lake Erie League 800-meter champion
2001: Placed 7th place finish as a member of the 4×800 at the Division I state meet Young, Brent Hammond and Inge with a time of 8:03.25
2001: Third at the Amherst regional as a member of the 4×800 along with Young, Hammond and Inge (7:56.63). Later placed seventh in the 800 (1:57.28). Earlier he was a member of the winning 4×800 (7:59.29) at the Amherst district where he also won the 800 meters (1:57.38) and a member of the third place 4×400 (3:26.15).

2002: Team member of squad that finished 10th at the Division I state meet as he was 57th overall (36th in team race) in a field of 141 runners as the Pioneers’ No. 1 runner in a personal record time of 16:37. It was the Elyria High boys first and so far only trip to the state cross country meet. The Elyria boys also finished runner-up at the Tiffin regional.
