Track and field

North Ridgeville High School (1975-76)
1976: Clarke won the Class AAA (now Division I) state championship 80-yard high hurdles in 10.3 seconds as she defeated Toledo Whitmer’s Liz Wilmoth (10.4).
1976: She also earned All-Ohio with Patricia Bolin, Annette Inforzato and Kathleen Miller for a fourth place in the 880-yard medley relay with a time of 1:53.1. Her efforts helped the Rangers to a sixth place team finish.
1976: Clarke was a Kent Class AAA District champ for 80-yard hurdles (10.5) and district runner-up for long jump (17-2.5). Her efforts helped North Ridgeville to a district runner-up finish to Euclid, 44-42.
1976: She was an Amherst Class AAA Sectional champ for 80-yard hurdles (10.6) and long jump (17-6.5). Clark also a sectional winner as a member of the 440-yard relay that included Sonya Custer, Patricia Bolin and Annette Inforzato (51.3). All three marks were sectional meet records. Her efforts helped the Rangers to a sectional team championship.
1975: Clarke placed third at the Class AAA state meet to earn All-Ohio (top six) in the 80-yard hurdles (10.7)
1975: She was third in the 80-yard hurdles (10.9) at the Kent Class AAA District.
1975: Clarke won the 80-yard hurdles (11.2) and was second in the 100-yard dash (11.5) at the Amherst Class AAA Sectional. Her efforts helped North Ridgeville to sectional runner-up finish to Medina, 69-66.
1975-76: Clarke was a three-time Lakeland Conference champion, winning the 80-yard hurdles twice (1975-76) and the 100-yard dash (1976). She also finished second at the Lakeland Conference meet for the 100-yard dash in 1975 and for long jump in 1976. Her efforts in 1976 also helped the Rangers to Lakeland Conference team championship.

According to the North Ridgeville Athletic Hall of Fame, following her graduation from North Ridgeville Clarke ultimately became a member of the U.S. Olympic team but wasn’t able to compete due to the 1980 Olympic boycott.
